How often you organize your closets?

Recommended Posts

I learned about sliming, bping, nutrition.... and more here. Hopping to get help with this issue as well :-)

I know all the general rules - if I don't need it, love it, or used in 1 year - give it away... But I am fighting myself because - I am glad I kept all those 'too small' things... lol

To get dressed is a project in itself. I refuse to buy more clothes that will fit me for maybe one month. I have plenty of "too small now" that will last me for months

Every week some things have to be moved from "too small" to " can wear now" and out of the "can wear now" to " "too big" closets.

I borrowed friends sawing machine to alter some of the pieces I absolutely can not pack into box (it is actually a very organized closet) full of things that are too big. So I now have another section in the closet - "to be altered" OMG

HELP PLEASE

How do I stop the insanity and find a simple way to clean up my closets .... any tricks, hints on how you deal with ever changing sizes and closet organization? When do you know It is time to box up and give away clothes that are too big?

Yours truly - Frustrated Bandit

I go through mine once a month. If it's too big it goes. If it's too tight or fits perfectly it stays.

If I don't do this then it takes me forever to get dressed because I have to try so many things on before I find something that will fit.

In my actual closet all I really have are sweatshirts and stuff like wintery clothes and I think everything in there is now to big on me. I guess I need to get rid of a lot of it. I tried cleaning out my drawers and I have a few bags in my room of clothes I need to get rid of. I can't seem to get rid of everything that is to big because I don't have very many clothes that fit. So what I've been doing is using my bigger shirts as sleep clothes. Really I have 1.5 jeans (ones kind of big so that's the half) 3 t shirts and I'm almost ready to get larges. I just bought a pair of capris for the summer. Besides scrubs and work out clothes, that's all I have that fit right

My rule is, once its too big...ITS OUTTA HERE!!!! I don't care how much I paid for it, how much I liked it or what memories are associated with wearing it! In the beginning I kept boxes in a spare room and threw them in there as I shrunk out of them. I tried having a garage sale...that was a flop. So I loaded them up and donated them to the local "Helping Hands" organization. My best friend is about a size larger than me. From now on if she doesn't want them, they are going in the garbage.

I'm with Cindy, if it's too big it's gone. I don't want see if I can fit back in it.

I completely agree with others who have said- if it's too big get rid of it. You will never need those large sizes again! I cleaned out my closet about every 6 weeks. I had plenty of smaller clothes from years of yo yo dieting. I bought one shirt and one pair of pants the whole time I was loosing. That I didn't even need but I wanted something new for a vacation. I gave all my clothes to my sister, who is also overweight. What she didn't want she passed on to friends or donated. I know it's hard to get rid of things you really like and maybe hardly ever wore, but I think it's important. That being said, the psyc. involved in my wls suggested I keep one "fat outfit" as a reminder. When I was frustrated with my rate of weight loss I looked at it or tried it on. It helped me to see how far I've come. Best wishes!

Opps, just posted something on this. I am just getting down one size, so I will have to start going thru my closet soon. It is going to be hard to get rid of stuff. But I guess it needs to be done

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
