JanB23 23 Posted June 4, 2011 It is very easy to also fall into the trap when you have young children of giving everything to them and neglecting yourself. This is how my weight got so out of control, so not only do you eat for comfort/boredom you eat easy unhealthy food and you eat the kids left overs. I wish i had my band when my kids where young, not only to help with my eating but also because it is something that is just yours, to look after you. It is all about you. And very little is when you have young kids. Having my band now makes me realize how little i have looked after my self over the years. And it makes me feel good to be doing something for me, and that makes it easier to fight those urges to eat when not hungry. I am a happier person.
asksdf 5 Posted June 4, 2011 I haven't done any therapy, and don't plan on it. It blows my mind just how mental overeating is, I don't think skinny or average people will ever understand it. Once you hit that sweet spot on your band fill, it's all pretty easy. Every once in a while, I'll be extremely hungry. Like, basically wanting to eat 3x as much as I usually do. But that usual small portion always fills me up just fine. As simple as that sounds, it took me a few months to get that to sink in. Just eat your meal, and walk away. shap 24 Posted June 4, 2011 This is a excellent post/thread and all of the responses are brilliant. I have been contemplating lap band for years and am finally now getting serious about it. This topic so speaks to me the head hunger the eating just to eat the never feeling saiety just eating till full. What about all those support groups I hear and read about does anybody attend them and if so does it help?
