Hi Bandsters,

I need some help!!! I have been banded since Sept 2009 and have lost 60lbs in 7 months then got pregnant. I gained back 22lbs during pregnancy and since having my baby Feb 1, 2011 have not lost a single pound. I have no restriction and can eat whatever I want and believe me I do!!! I can't seem to stop eating all the foods that we are not supposed to.

How does one get back on the band diet??

I had a upper GI and they can't even find my band?!?! How is this even possible?? I'm wondering if it's beginning to erode? I have an appointment next week with my surgeon but I would at least like to get my eating under control and back on the band wagon before the appointment.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hi,

I'd suggest 100+ grams of Protein shake per day and a ton of Water. Force yourself to have 5+ shakes per day. It should calm things down.

Good luck

Doing just shakes for 2-3 days might kick things off. In additon, once you go back to solids, I would focus on eating the right things- low carb/low fat/high Protein. Lots of lean meat and non-starchy veggies. I eat eggs and or low fat sausage for Breakfast. Also, if your not working out I highly reccomend you start. It has so many benefits, just one being weight loss. I hope they figure out what's going on with your band soon. Very strange they couldn't even find it. Best wishes!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
