Congrats !! im so excited for you !! i haven't been banded yet but i see my surgeon next week !! Im thinking mine will be in about 4 months as well . Im not exactly 100% sure about why insurance requires that. im guessing to see if you maintain at the weight you are at now or you are actually able to lose with a supervised diet. i think if they think you can lose on your own then you dont need the surgery ? Again this is just my GUESS !! I have no clue. lol

Lotta help i am :P

I had to go 6 months then have a psych eval. I called it all the *** hoops but I am actually grateful because I got a lot of information that I think will only help use the Lap Band to it's full potential. Be patient, it goes fast!! B)

Love the answers from the previous posters - but the diet is to show that you can stick to a program. They expect the patients to start learning new things about the process and it does weed out people that aren't totally serious about it (or haven't done enough research). I thought my 6 month diet was terrible but it FLEW by and I don't regret having that time to work on myself.

I think a lot of it has to do with preparing you for a lifestyle change. They don't want to pay for a surgery that someone hasn't really thought out and considered all the changes that will be made to their life.

The reason I am nervous is that I am so excited at the moment that it gives me a drive. I just dont want it to appear I can do it because I loose some while on that. I know me and that will pass and I will be right back where I am. I just don't want anything to mess up this chance. My current bmi is 45.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
