What is the difference between sliming and throwing up?

Recommended Posts

Just curious. My band seems to be at a great spot right now, but every once in a while I get stuck and then start regurgitating what I've eaten.

It's usually because I was in a hurry, or very hungry, or even just not really focusing on chewing and taking small bites.

Happened yesterday, I was working and before I knew it my stomach was grumbly and I had to leave. So I grabbed a small piece of meat (leftovers)

I ate it quickly. I spent the next 10 minutes or so just having it all come up a little bit at a time.

So would this be considered sliming? or throwing up? I wasn't heaving, but there was a lot of saliva involved.

Also when this happens, what is the best thing to do physically? (sometimes I stretch upwards or bend over touch my toes)

thank you

Sliming is more of mucus that comes out and the throwing up well we all know what that is. I battle both!!!!!

I am 4 months out and this happens to me almost every day, I don't know if I need to go back to the Dr, he is quite a ways from where we live, but I do chew things well but the slime is a big factor, Like I have a mucus plug in my chest, after it comes up I can go ahead a eat what"s up

This has happened to me twice. I learned the HARD way not to RUSH my meals. The pain in my chest was pretty bad...and the sliming thing is GROSS. But I think the pain I was feeling was even more distressing. I have learned to eat slooooowly.... and chew well.

The best way I was able to handle it was to move...keep walking, bending and stretching. I also learned NOT to do this in front of other people who do not know that I've been banded. It's hard to explain why I was going through the ordeal.

Now I think it's about learning new habits. Before the band I would just grab something, rush to eat it and run... Not anymore!!! I have to be more careful in planning.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
