WHAT IS TRUE WEIGHT LOSS???SCALE??

Recommended Posts

As we all know the scale can fluctuate between 0-15 lbs a day. My question is what weight do you actually go by? The lowest or average of all? ALL RESPONSES ARE WELCOME ....THXXX

Easy fix: Stop weighing yourself everyday; it's pointless. Your closest true weight is early in the morning on an empty stomach after using the bathroom. Even then don't use the scale as the only way to measure your weight-loss. Focus on inches lost more.

I do weigh daily...only once a day, first thing in the morning (after going to the bathroom). I like weighing daily because it helps keep me on track BUT you should only do it if you can handle the day to day fluctuations without getting crazy over them. I don't show a loss everyday and can bounce up and down a pound or more during the week. I also only "record" my weight once a week.

I had surgery on 4/18. I got weighed at my post-op appointment on 4/27 and haven't stepped on the scale since. Yes, I'm dying to know but I can tell a difference in my clothes and people are noticing so that keeps me motiviated. I get my first fill tomorrow and they will weigh me then....I know I'm going to be disappointed in the "number" but I don't have any restriction and nothing in my band at all so anything I have lost has been willpower and if I had much of that I wouldn't have needed the band to help me. But, even if I only lost 6 pounds, that is a pound a week and that is good for me. The scale would just be a disappointment to me so I go by my body changing and the clothes.

I choose to weigh on the day I have to get up early in the morning. I work one morning shift a week, so I weigh Thursday's at 6:40 am, when I wake up after I've gone to the bathroom. That is the only weight I record. Now strangely that is not my lowest weight of the day. It is usually around noon or one (before I eat lunch). I am a chronic weigher it helps keep me on track. I try to ignore the day to day fluctuations. I do try to look at what I ate the day before. But I only truly accept the one weight a week.

Damn scale. I work out and jump on that scale and it seems like it hardly moves then go to the dr and realize I lost 9 pounds in a month. Felt like I had lost nothing because I was watching it go down ounce by ounce. I weigh once a week now, at the gym, don't even have a scale at home. The scale will drive you crazy! LOL I feel great, that's what is most important! So many non scale victories to enjoy along with the weight loss, don't forget how rewarding they can be too!

Good Luck!

As others have said, I always weigh myself when I wake up, after going to the bathroom. I believe this gives you the most consistant weight. When I was loosing, I weighed in once a week and recorded it. Now that I am maintaining, I weigh myself every day. I want to stay within a few pound range. I would say if the scale is frustrating you I wouldn't get on it so often. Best wishes.

I weigh once every day, in the morning. I can do this because I absolutely expect and don't mind the daily fluctuations. I count each new "low" obtained as my weight, and ignore fluctuations up to 2 lbs back up because I know my body after doing all of this tracking and I know those small ups aren't real pounds. So one day I'll be 174.8, the next I'll be 176.6, the next 176.2, the next 175.0, etc.-- you get the picture. I count myself as 174.8 until I hit the next lower number. This works for me, but may not work for everyone.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
