Jess55 97 Posted June 1, 2011 I am 5 months post op with only a small fill, 0.75cc plus whatever was in my band at surgery and I can eat anything I want. Humming Bird 275 Posted June 1, 2011 There are a few things I always keep on hand : Chili, canned chicken, oatmeal, Protein Powder, cheese, leafy type salad, yogurt / lite, drinkable smoothy type ......... Each of us end up being a little different with what we can and can't eat. I've been banded almost 2 years, so pretty much get in the groove with my own eating patterns. It takes a little time to get it figured out, but I try to keep variety without crossing that line that would cause me discomfort or other problems. You are pre-op? I ended up buying way too much liquid type stuff for the post-op requirements, but it's so hard to know. I got a big bottle of apple juice, took one sip post-op, and ended up throwing out the rest because it was way too sweet. I was never a fan of yogurt before the band, but sure did eat quite a bit in that first few months post-op. I still eat it and put in the blender with Protein powder, fruit and ice. So, while I'm never going to eat deep dish pizza again, once in a great while, I might eat a bit of crisp, thin crust pizza. In terms of things to have in your fridge, when I was post-op, I spent time making different Soups and freezing them in individual Ziplock containers to take to work as lunch. I put several recipes that I really liked that worked well with my band up on my blog (you'll have to go to the Nov. 2008 posts to find them). These days, I generally keep some lunch meat, cheese and granola bars on hand for quick meals/snacks (a snack turns out to be enough for a meal). eggs are great, too, and I tend to also eat a lot of fish. I hope that helps! If you haven't done it yet, take your measurements and write them down, and take a bunch of before photos! You will want them later! Can you have a bite of steak or is that like a hugh no no ? i keep hearing any type of beef is hard to digest and just makes you get sick. Thats good news ! ive heard different things from different people . I can eat anything (including bread)...that doesn't mean I do eat anything - for the most part, I stay away from bread, Pasta, etc because I find that I lose better eating low carb.
