Sit Ups After A Tummy Tuck

Recommended Posts

So I had a mini Tummy Tuck which then turned into a super extended tummy tuck. My belly button was moved and my doc cut off a lot of skin almost 365 degrees around my body (did not have my muscles touched).

I am now 10 weeks post op a revision on my front and 3 weeks post op the extension on my back.

Anyways I am starting back at the gym and tried to do some sit ups. I got to about 15 ( full sit up, lie down not crunches) and my lower stomach hurt. It felt like I was really stretching the skin near the scar. I actually stopped and didnt try to do more.

My question is, has anyone had any problems doing sit ups after a tummy tuck? Im so excited to be back at the gym and used to do 150 sit ups a day ( 50 full sit ups and then 100 motorcycle way) but now with this uncomfortable feeling, I wonder if I could somehow cause a problem with the incision or....?

Hi:

I think you're supposed to wait at least 6 weeks post op before doing any physical exercise. For right now, you should probably be sticking to walking and possibly biking. You should ask your doctor, but I think you're really pushing it!

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I waited 6 wks before returning to the gym and my cardio/boxing classes which includes LOTS of stomach crunches and situps. Even after 6 wks I took it slow - I was back up to speed after 2 wks of working my way back into things. Take it easy, you're body needs lots of time to heal.

Its been 10 weeks since the last revision of my Tummy Tuck in my front. The first tuck was in October then we kept changing it a bit.

So my front from hip to hip is long healed up.

My back is almost all healed and everything is ok, maybe since my doc changed my belly button 3 weeks ago as well that could be causing some of the pain.

*sigh* I am just so tired of waiting to go back to the gym. I guess I will take it easy with sit ups for a few more weeks. Luckily cardio and toning doesnt bother me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
