I WAS going to ask for advice on why I am suddenly having uncontrollable sleeping...

Recommended Posts

hummm.. ok I have taken all that into account.. My level is surpose to stay under 8.0...and last time I did it it was.. but I remember when it was around 6.5 and I was being told I was at the low end of the scale.. and here I am letting it creep up.. hoping I lose the weight and avert the situation..

jack.. a 12.. wow..

as far as the opiates (someone called them) I have been on them a couple years,, and on the viccodan for like 5 years now.. (but I am practiacally off the vicodan witch is really neat) I never became dependant on any of it, but I know I will suffer irritating withdrawl when I go off.. I will do it slowly of course. I cant wait not to have to have any at all..

There's also Iron to consider. If you're eating as badly as you say you could be anaemic, which would make you very tired.

Get yourself checked out Nykee. Most of those things take nothing more than blood tests to ferret out.

Of course take everyone's advice and see a doc, but my mom is going through the same thing as we speak. She has been on pain pills for years after a surgery she had on her back and now has lots of metal there where her back used to be. Well, she is considered obese, being 4'11" and 150 pounds, so her doc runs every test and found nothing other than pain will make you sleep. No matter what meds she is on there is always a bit of pain. I read online that this pain can cause you just to sleep all the time. She just recently retired too, so she wakes up, moves to the couch, takes a nap, wakes up eats dinner and goes back to bed. She gets out of the house when she needs to, but as soon as she is home she is sleeping, all through the night too. She does have sleep apnea and refuses to wear the mask and chronic pain. She swears it's not depression, but it worries the crap out of me for someone to sleep so much. I hope your doc can help, because you are right, It could be any number of things. Do check the thyroid and sugars and sleep apnea. But I also know I sleep like that when I am PMSing and my hormones are all outta whack, so have them checked too. I hope you can find out what is causing this. Keep us posted.

thank you.. it seems to be getting better, but I dont know if thats just cuz I talked about it or what?

Well.. today I slept.......... the major thing is I think.. the heavyness of the sleeping..

Today i slept but I was up all night.. so it makes sence I would sleep.

BUT.. the different thing is HOW deep of a sleep I am in that I NEVER used to be in.. and especially in midday with my kids milling about??

I dreamed hard.. and felt alot of irritation when I woke up and fell back to slleep immediately.. ALL things that are NEW.. and differnt and seem worrysome..

Mvpo, I am not pregnant.. lol .., I had my tubes tighed when I was 19 and I have had a uterus ablation TWICE.. lol (I WISH THOUGH!)

I will call my doctor for an appointment tomarrow..

So you are diabetic?

So is my mom.

When she is eating crap, she feels like crap! And has about 4 *PASS-OUT* naps during the day.

Just trying to analyze this, I would think that sleep induced depression would be to "get-away" from feeling sad, pain, etc. But what you are describing sounds more like my mom's symptoms...

she'll go 3 days in her duster, not getting out of the house... b/c she's so tired and sleeps so much during the day. Weve been there visiting and looked over and she's passed out in her recliner.

Anyway, my cousins hubby is diabetic as well. She said that when he isnt eating the right choices, he is extremely sluggish and sleepy all the time.

This may not be YOUR case, but then again, it may.

PLEASE keep us posted. ((hugs))

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
