Hello All

I am about to start my new lease of life on the 7th of feb in Lyon France. I am not nervous but very excited. I weigh 264 Ibs and 5'6". I need to lean on you all in the coming months and will try to pick your brains as much as possible so please bear with me. I live in Ireland with my hubby and 2 kids. Life is good........but will get better. I am lucky in that I don't suffer health wise YET but I want the lap band to prevent anything happening further down the road. I want to be on this earth as long as possible. Watch this space!!!!!

Anna welcome to LBT! Glad to have you aboard with us. There is a lot of information here for you to read. Good luck, and keep us posted!

I am thinking about going to MX for my lapband. It is substantially less expensive and from talking to others who have gone, it's very very safe and very good. Anyone out there who has been?

Hello, I have not been banded as yet. I have been doing a lot of research, have been to a seminar and have talked to several people who have had the procedure done.

I would love to talk to more people who went to Mexico.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Yes Ireland is a beautiful place.......really. It is rapidly expanding now and buildings are shooting up everywhere. I am from Dublin but I live in the county next to Dublin called Meath, its very scenic.

Welcome, IrishAnna! Good luck to you, and post any questions...someone will be around to answer! Use the search feature, too...it's a wealth of info from past questions and concerns...I used it so much right before my banding. Good luck! Cindy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
