Anti Streched Pouch

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I can't seem to find alot of information on Portion Control, and the signs and symptons of being full. I have a 5cc band. I have one 1cc in my band. I eat 4oz meals. I measure out everything. I'm wondering if am I at a good point. I would like to think that I am not streching my pouch. I am hungry in 4 hours, but if I drank Water it seems to weed out the hunger. I set up eating 3oz of meat and 1 oz veggies for dinner. Breakfast small 2oz meat and 1 and half oz of fruit. lunch is 2 and a half oz meat and 1 and a half oz veggie. I wait at least 1 hour 30 minutues to drink after a meal. I currently have no burping or stomach upsets. Only gas aches. I just wanna make sure my pouch is safe. What are some things that you guys do? I am going in for a small fill thursday. I feel like everything is in control.

Any ideas or advice would be so nice and meal info.

Thanks you guys!

Hi,

I think your diet looks good. My doctor talks more about volume of food than weight of food. For example - my meals are to be less than one cup each (rather than 3 oz this or that). So, if I eat a cup of salad - that's only a few ounces. She's just more concerned about volume. So, I would say that so long as you are staying within about a cup at each meal - you should be good.

I don't have any fill in my band so I don't really ever get that "full" feeling. I know some people get a hiccup or a burp or some slight pain in the shoulder but it sounds like you are making good choices.

How is your weight loss going?

Hi Thanks for replying. I have been just a little nervous. I had one incident about two yrs ago where I streched my pouch out a little. I got scared after that and just never put any Fluid back in once it was all out. I think from here on out I have to do very small fills. My band is working! Its only been a week since I got the fill I think I lose 5 pounds..lol. I'm happy. The only thing I'm worried about is, since I can get really only 3oz+ a little more in, is if I'm getting all the nutrtients I need. I have started, just eating my meat in one serving. waiting only 3 hours and eating a couple of veggies. Then I go back to 4 hours and eat meat and tiny fruit then later back to veggie in 3 hours with lil meat. What do you think about that? Now that I'm back on the bandwagon, I wanna dio it correctly. I think we are all different because I only have 1cc now and I don't think I would ever get to 2. However I notice that a 4 oz meal is all that I can eat. If I eat very very slow I'm full right away only after exactly 3. I cant finish a cup. Anyway are you in washington? Congrads on your weight loss, I can't even imagine that I will lose 70 pds! You must feel like you are flying! I'm so happy for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
