jbringgs10 0 Posted June 1, 2011 Not sure how your doctor is, but for band patients they can shower immediately with antigerm body wash like Dial. As far as gas pains I'm still waiting to experience it.(just got banded today the 31st) .but I heard that heat pads in combination with gas x and walking may do the trick. Guess we shall see! SageTracey 608 Posted June 1, 2011 Interestingly, the nurse told me that my shoulder pain was gas pain and that walking would help, but my surgeon said it was referred pain from the diaphragm being moved during the surgery. All I know is that it took 10 days to go away, walking didn't help much, but heat pads and lying down did. 1 ImNRN2012 reacted to this

Thats what i thought, the diaphragm, because,it hurts when i cough, sort of like when i had bronchitits, your lungs hurt from all the coughing.Thank god i did not have the shoulder pain, but i do get gassy after i drink lots of Water, moving around does help. ImNRN2012 0 Posted June 5, 2011 I was banded on the 31st of May and I am still having pain, but it has localized itself to my left rib and shoulder...I walk and that is when it gets worse, I also start to get all sweaty and feel light headed. I feel relief by laying on my left side with a heating pad on low while my fiance' pats me on my back. Call me crazy but on day 2 I thought I was having a heart attack. I also eat 2 gas-x before I lie down. I can also feel some relief setting up if i lean on my left side against a pillow. As soon as i sit up straight I can feel the pain starting to come on. My fiance' is rubbing my back as I type. These are the things that have helped me, if you or anyone has suggestions please share! I thought I was free of them this morning because te pain was gone and I could breath but as you see it came back. Best of Luck!
ImNRN2012 0 Posted June 5, 2011 And as far as your bandages, mine came off of my staples on day 2, and I took a shower the same day and daily since then. Its day 4 and I had my staples removed today and small butterfly bandages applied, my 5 incisions have healed great! I'd ask your Dr. ASAP
