Freddy Henin 1 Posted May 29, 2011 So I'm the at Busch tour in STL, beer is everywhere...I'm on my liquid diet right now...I've taken a few sips from family and stuff, I feel fine (just burping) but is that ok to do? I'm not saying I'm drinking an entire cup, just like 20 sips on a 3 hour tour
CheckYes 46 Posted May 29, 2011 Didn't your doctor tell you that you shouldn't have any carbonation? Mine is quite strict about it. You certainly shouldn't be consuming alcohol - even in limited quantities in my opinion - while on your post op liquid diet.< /p>
sld21 26 Posted May 29, 2011 I use to enjoy a beer every now and then but since being banded its usually torturous. The carbonation kills me. But I guess it depends on how many fills you have and how tight you are. I haven't had anything carbonated in almost 2 years unless you count a sip every now and then of a beer and it wasn't worth it. I usually have to wait for it to die down some before I can drink it. My doctor never said no to it...it's only in the first six months or so, he even okayed soda if I let the bubbles die down some if I really want one but now its willpower...its been a year and a half, why ruin the streak. LVGirl 4 Posted May 31, 2011 My doc said no alcoholic beverages at all for at least 4 months, and then nothing with carbonation.

Hiya ! Congrats on your weight loss !! Also , i havent been banded yet and im not much of a drinker but how exactly does that work ? Are you able to have mixed drinks of they arent carbonated ? Does a shot glass get you drunk ?
HeatherinCA 10 Posted May 31, 2011 No carbonation! You will just feel like complete crap if you drink carbonation. I have enough gas and burping without it. I'd wait on alcohol till you are on full solid foods. I do it now and then.. but it's not usually worth the calories.

Are you able to have mixed drinks of they arent carbonated ? Does a shot glass get you drunk ? Yes..mixed drinks without carbonation are what I usually choose, for example, vodka and cranberry with a splask of OJ (oh yeah). A shot wouldn't get you drunk, I suppose, but your tolerance is lower when you start losing weight, it takes less to get you loopy. I usually can have two and I'm done. People also recommend that you eat before you drink so it doesn't hit you hard but I can't do that, if I'm full, it only wrecks with my tummy and makes me feel stuck. I am a social, rare drinker..but I have always been (though I could get more in before banding)

Are you able to have mixed drinks of they arent carbonated ? Does a shot glass get you drunk ? I will have a drink now and then with friends. I just make sure they are mixed drinks that do not include any carbonated ingredients. Wine is also ok. Some people have a very low tolerance after surgery. I don't think mine is lower, but it wasn't really high in the first place
