Hello everyone!

I am so amazed at what a wonderful forum this is - I feel so blessed to have found it! It's nice to see how supportive and informative everyone is, and I look forward to getting to know all of you. I may not be knowledgable about the during-op and post-op, but once I am, I'll definitely pay it forward. :D

Anyway, my name is Lisa. I am 30 years old with PCOS and Hypothyroidism. I've been overweight since I turned 20, and obese since I was 21-22. As with most Bandsters, I have tried just about all of the diets you can think of: Weight Watchers (a billion times), NutriSystem (twice), Curves, Atkins (4 or 5 times), Slim Fast, SparkPeople (several times), fruits & veggies only, you name it, I've probably tried it. Some have lasted a day or two, the longest (Weight Watchers) I stayed on plan for about 8-10 months. That was the first time I attempted dieting, and haven't been able to last as long as that since. So, I've done some research and have decided to get the Lap Band. I am going through True Results and doing the pre-reqs my insurance (Aetna) is requiring (4 months medically supervised weight loss, 2 nutritionist visits, psych eval). I should be done with those in mid-late August, so I'm really hoping to be banded in September. My 31st birthday is that month - what a wonderful present to myself, eh? B)

Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to say hello and give a little introduction about myself. I've decided to try my hand at blogging my way through this journey, so I hope you guys will check out my new blog here. I hope to meet many new and wonderful friends

Thanks for reading this lengthy post lol. :P Have a wonderful, healthy day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
