jamiesdoingit 3 Posted May 28, 2011 I was banded on April 27th, and I have lost 20 lbs so far. I lost it all in 2 weeks which I loved watching the scale move everyday. I have not lost a pound in two weeks. How can I not be losing when I am eating so little. I am eating about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I am starting to get discouraged. I get my first fill on June 8th. hopefully that will help. i have no restriction, and I am hungry all the time and can eat anything. So looking forward to losing again and not being hungry. I am also a little scared about getting a fill, but I know I need one!
Sistersue 12 Posted May 28, 2011 Hi Jamie, that happens to a lot of people. It happened to me too, I have since started loosing again. I think there are a lot of factors that contribute to the plateau. First is that yo body is adjusting to the new way you are eating and is now conserving energy. Do you get cold easier now? My body temperature has been running around 96 degrees so my body is conserving emery that way. Also a a lot of the weight we loose in the first few weeks is Water weight because we are drinking so much, then when we star eating food we gain some of that back, especially if you like salt. Also watch for Constipation, that can make it seem like you aren't losing. What to do then? Make sure you journal all you food on a site like livestrong.com so you can watch you sodium and Protein intake and log your water. If you aren't exercising, start as long as your doctor approves. You should at least be able to walk. Yo cat track that as well on livestrong.com. Once you body quits freaking out over the cut in calories the scale will start to move again. Sistersue 12 Posted May 28, 2011 FYI, fills are no big deal but it may take several for you to get restriction. Water helps with hunger and keep sugar free Snacks and high Protein snacks n hand

ThinSIstaSoon 2 Posted May 28, 2011 I was banded in Feb and have only lost 10 lbs. I've lost 18 total but I have gone down THREE sizes! From a tight 26/24 to a comfortable 20/18!!! I get so sick and hopeless when I just focus on the scale. Take pictures so u can see the difference. That's what I've done.
jennifer1 180 Posted May 28, 2011 from what i understand the first month after surgery is about healing and not weight loss. So probably wont see anything till after your first fill. i say this now and i'll be the one crying in a week cuz i havent lost! LOL! i'm only 8 days post op! LOL
Dave_NW 92 Posted May 29, 2011 The first six weeks after surgery are about healing. Weight loss comes later. The 20 pounds you lost so quickly were mostly Water weight pounds. As you continue to follow your doctor's plans, and eat as you should, once your metabolism adjusts, your weight loss will happen. Be patient, but stay on track. Don't get frustrated or think you need to change something until/unless you KNOW you're not doing something right. Also, for your future knowledge, be aware that weight loss is rarely linear. You can't predict it, but be aware that it happens that you may go a week or two without any loss, then suddenly drop two or three pounds in a day or two. My longest delay like that was eighteen days. I was wondering what the heck was going on. But then I lost a pound a day for the next five days. It was weird. I've weighed myself daily (never a good idea, but I can't seem to stop) and I clearly see how my weight loss has been to go along at a given weight for several days, then I'll drop a pound or two. Then I go along several more days, then drop a pound or two. My surgeon says that's absolutely normal. Dave
jennifer1 180 Posted May 29, 2011 i had to come back to this post. i am addicted to the scale and couldnt stop thinking about this post yesterday. i started mushies on friday and weighed myself and i have gain almost 2pounds since friday!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm trying to not go jump out the window!!LOL! i do know that i have really stop drinking my liquids like i'm supposed to and my dietician just told me on friday that a lot of people fall off from liquids once they start mushies cuz they have been drinking them for 3 weeks and are pretty much sick of them.(me raising both hands!!!!) Elie936 1 Posted May 29, 2011 Hello. ReAlly you shouldnt worry one bit, and i know you have heard about this, but it is scary. My doc requires 3 week liquids and 3 weeks puree, no pre op. He doest do a pre op because he says that if we do too long, we will gain as soon as we see a glass of Water.< /p> I did too loose 17 pounds in 2 weeks, then it stopped, but everybody kept telling me i wAs still loosing. I think that some of that 17 pou ds mighthave been water or something, but fat finally melted after. I didnt loose from week 3 to week 5, i was soo sad. I wasnt eating but couldnt loose, even gained a 2 pounds ans lost it and gained it again. Finally, this week i lost 3-5 pounds. I keep loosing. I think our bodies need a break after strict diets like that. Stop pannicking, it will be fine:) hide your scale plz, and think of your skin, its better slow.
