numbness around port

I am 2 weeks post op and have an area of about 5 inches in diameter around the port/incision that is numb. It has been this way for two days now. Feels like that area fell asleep. I haven't read anything about this anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this? Of course it is a holiday weekend and I started worrying about it after Dr offices closed. I am hoping others had this happen and it is not a problem.

It is probably because they have cut through nerves and it will take a while for them to regenerate. It is quit a common side effect of being cut open. You will experience it after a Caesarean etc. I have the same thing after having had an abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. Don't worry, it make take a while but the sensation does return.

I too am still numb from a prior surgery back in January of....08 or 09....
