I have been putting quite a bit of effort forth... I log every single thing I put in my mouth... I've increased my activity level... I have a body bugg so I know my actual calorie output... I even just made a spreadsheet with calorie intake and output and my average calorie burn is 1600 calories a day. So can someone please explain to me why I am not losing weight at a more consistant pace? I seem to not lose for 2 or 3 weeks and then I'll drop 6 pounds in a week and then BAM I don't lose for 2 or 3 weeks again! Is this normal? FYI while I'm am female I take continuous hormones so no "monthly friend" to attribute this to... Any advice would be very welcome :) Thanks

Your total burn seems low - unless that's your daily caloric deficit. If it is your deficit - be patient. Success comes with being consistent. Don't lose your mojo! Stay motivated and committed. You can do it!

Sorry 1600 is my average deficit. I burn usually 2700-3000 cal daily.

Could be too big of a deficit, not sure. Either way the golden rule is that weightloss isn't consistent nor linear. Does it really matter to you that you're losing a pound each week or 6lbs every 2-3 weeks? Id take the 6lbs any day. The fact is that you won't lose each week.

Your loss sounds EXACTLY like my loss. I lose in bursts, then my body adjusts, then I drop another chunk-- that's how it was for my first 100 lbs anyway. Now I lose even slower than that :) Seems totally normal.

You are doing just great. 6 pounds every three weeks is two pounds a week on average, which is just right. I say keep doing what your doing!

I think everyone does this. As far as I can tell Water has a lot to do with in and gaining muscle.

That's exactly how my losses went when I was actively losing. Don't fret!

don't forget, even if you don't lose pounds you could be losing inches. nature works in its own way.

Your weight is right on the money ! You should be happy....

Just for the asking Do you retain Water?

I do, and I stay off that scale..... I only get weighed at the Dr,'s Office,

I keep a purse calendar, and look at the last time I was weighed, then do the math.

I am much more happier that way, and I can tell by my cloths if I am losing weight.

Be patient,, this is a slow go. Like I said though, your numbers are right on the money.

Shirley.

1-2lbs a week is totally normal... so if you don't lose for 2 weeks, then lose 6 haha you are good! That happens to me sometimes too.

Remember you need a calorie deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1lbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
