Time2BHealthy 1 Posted May 27, 2011 I was banded on May 24. yesterday and today I have had a severe headache. It is throbbing all over and I can hear my heart beat in my ears. It almost sounds like an ultrasound of a baby's heartbeat. I've been taking the pain meds, but they make me nauseous. They help with the stomach pain, but aren't even touching the headache. It hurts less if I sit up, but can't sleep like this. Help!

Toast4U 6 Posted May 27, 2011 I was banded on May 3. After surgery I had such a bad headache that I thought my head would explode. It continued through the second day. Finally, on the third day after surgery, the headache began to dissipate and was gone by the end of the day. Hooray!
AlienBandit 10 Posted May 27, 2011 This sounds exactly like caffeine withdrawal to me. I was in the hospital a few months ago for a surgery and was on morphine yet I still had headaches. It drove me nuts. I couldnt sleep because of them. One day another patient who was there brought me a coffee because she accidentally paid for 2 with the coffee machine ( the machine didnt give back change) so I drank it and suddenly my headaches were gone! I found this so strange because I only ever have maybe one coffee a day if even that and yet I got headaches from it? So strange but maybe give it a try

I thought my head was going to explode, I had a constant wooshing sound in my ears and my sight was off. My primary doc was treating me for a sinus infection....wrong. I ended up being diagnosed with PTC (pseudo tumor cerebre) and that was only b/c I went to get a new rx for my glasses and she saw that I had swelling in my optic nerves. I had to get a spinal tap to relieve the pressure. And I've been okay since. ( its been about 2 1/2 months since) PTC is most common in overweight women of childbearing age. I hope you feel better : )
stateofzen 46 Posted May 27, 2011 I had this-- in fact, the headache was the worst pain. Some of it was caffeine withdrawal. Some of it was the lortab I was taking for pain (I've since discovered it can give me a headache, funnily enough). The good news is-- it will go away. Tylenol is a safe pain reliever and comes in liquid form, though I would check to make sure you can take it with whatever stronger pain med you're on.
