I'm a newbie at the forum after lurking around here for the past 2 weeks getting more information. I never really thought about doing this untill my parents were the ones that bought it up suggested I could do it and they will pay for it. My insurance does not pay for it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be covered immediatly being only 36 bmi and being very young at age 21. I'm not very good at maintaining weightloss so I figured this would be a good alternative. My parents have had their friends do it that were their age, being new on the forum I'm looking to find more people my age to relate to.My surgery date is June 8th.

Wow your really close! Good luck with everything with you! I could not do a liquid diet for 2 weeks, while my boss who did it was just fine. I guess its psychological. Have you had any headaces or shakes some people talk about?

Yes the first 4 days were the worst..I had terrible headaches and dizziness, NO energy at all. It was rough. But after that it got easier. I have never been able to stick to diets perfectly but i think I was just in the riht frame of mind and didnt want to screw anything up for surgery so i stuck with it. And I'm soooo glad I did!

What are your restrictions?

My boss said the first 2 days are the worst because your having withdraws. Do you excersise any to help with the weightloss or was it just the diet that you lost weight on? I am restricted to 2 day liquid diet before. Nervous about it drank a Protein shake today and was hungry a hour and a half later I had another one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
