Snoring

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have an odd question.. I used to snore, quite alot, and quite loud before the surgery.. Well, now my husband is amazed.. I no longer snore.. My husband said that since the surgery i have slept very peaceful and quiet.. I know before surgery they asked if i had sleep apnea. I said "no", my husband felt "yes.".. So the doctors said that they would watch and see how losing some weight helps.. But what surprises me is the fact that it stopped - right after surgery.. Anybody else have this wonderful thing happen to them..

I know alot of people snore because they are overweight so it is no suprise to me your not snoring any more with some weight loss.

How cool huh?

Thank you for the reply.. I had only lost about 25lbs.. Maybe that was enough to do it.. I'm just glad I don't wake the neighborhood anymore-and the dogs...!! LOL!! thanks

Becky:

I used to snore all the time too. After I read your post, I went and asked my husband if I've been snoring and he said he doesn't recall hearing me snore since I had the surgery either, and if I do, I haven't woken him up like I used to. I lost 16 pounds before surgery, but was still snoring. Surgery was almost 3 weeks ago and have lost another 18, so that must've done it!

:)

Funny! I stopped snoring too the day I came home from hospital. My husband was amazed, and so was I because it made no sense since I hadn't lost any weight at that point, so I dismissed the whole thing. My snoring was a bit of an issue because when we first got married neither of us snored, then I got pregnant and it got loud! and now I'm cured!

I asked my cardiologist why the pulmonologist was insisting that I had sleep apnea and that I needed testing, when I knew I didn't. He said, "Well, if you DON'T have sleep apnea you'll be the first woman with your BMI I've met who doesn't have it." My BMI at that time was in the high 40's.

I was tested. And had really bad sleep apnea. I needed a Bi-Pap machine (like a CPAP, but one setting for exhaling and one for inhaling), set at 18 and 14, on a scale of 1-20, 20 being worst. So you KNOW it was bad, but I was sure I didn't have it.

But snoring is just one symptom. And you know, if you can get used to the stupid machine, you awake rested like you haven't been in years. I think those of us who are obese should get tested, because the apnea is very tough on your heart.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
