pinky lee 1 Posted May 25, 2011 Omg...I was a wreck prior to surgery, almost cried even though I knew I was doing the right thing....it's just the thought of voluntarily going under, I was definitely a big weenie. I have never had a broken bone or any type of surgery, so it was a big step for me. But I truly believe that is what we are all here for, we are all taking that big step. or have taken it. It's over before you know it though, and I came home today with my stomach staples looking like a lil mini Frankenstein down there, but it is all good, they will be removed in one week and from what I understand, you won't be able to see them before long. All in all things went well I feel ok, just really tired which is to be expected and really sore which is to expected as well. Get to take a shower tonight , which Im excited about! My surgeon and P.A. stated that my stomach and intestines had large fat deposits around them and that it would probably cause me to have more fills to get to my sweet spot because as I lose that fat, it would loosen more and the restriction would go away, so I would need another fill possiblly sooner. Apparently is was a rather large fat deposit around some of my organs so my P.A. looked at me and stated, well this just confirms that you have done the right thing with this surgery.....WOW....what a statement. And she was right, I knew anyway, but what a confirmation from someone that was in the OR and seen what your organs look like. Anyway, I just wanted to give some quick shout outs to everyone for some quick updates on how everything went. I will keep everyone updated!! Carpe Diem!! More2Love 5 Posted May 26, 2011 Hey Pinky! Congrats! I'm glad you had a good experience! This was also my first experience with any kind of surgery - but I DID break my ankle when I was in 3rd grade. I was extremely scared, and I did cry But my nurses were all nice about it. It was just the whole operating room that freaked me out. I'm currently 1 week post-op so we're close. Anyway, good luck with everything. 18 pounds lost? That's awesome!
LVGirl 4 Posted May 26, 2011 Congrats! I have surgery on Friday and this makes me feel much better. I'm with you, not much experience personally in hospitals :-)
sweetpea61956 6 Posted May 26, 2011 Congrats! Tomorrow is my day. I have had two c-sections and a hysterectomy, so this should be a breeze...although I was younger then. Happy Banding!
WEESIE 5 Posted May 26, 2011 I hope you did well yesterday. I had my surgery yesterday also. I am older than most of the people here and it was not a breeze. The good news is that it passes quickly and about 24 hours after I got out of the OR I am able to be on the computer for a bit. Will be watching for your updates. Congrats! Tomorrow is my day. I have had two c-sections and a hysterectomy, so this should be a breeze...although I was younger then. Happy Banding!
sweetpea61956 6 Posted May 29, 2011 Well here it is day 3 after surgery and still seem to be ok. some pain from gas but not too bad. I don't know what you consider older than most people but I am going to be 55 on Friday, so I know my body doesn't heal as fast as it used to. I go for my post op on June 2nd. I am going back to work on Tuesday, so it should be interesting. I am getting about 4 ounces of Protein shake down and a popsicle and Water..that is about it. Hope all is still going good for you. mcteri 3 Posted June 1, 2011 Hey all. I was banded yesterday. I am sore, but nothing too horrible. Here I am though, up in the middle of the night waiting for my pain meds to kick back in! I was nervous, but all in all, it was a breeze. I figure I will be uncomfortable for a few days but I am excited to finally have it done and get started on my journey!! Best wishes to you all!! ttny007 29 Posted June 1, 2011 I am also having my surgery on June 10th and just can't wait to get it done. I think the build up to it is what is so nerve racking! It's almost like closing one door and opening another all on one day. Good luck and keep in touch. TaraLynneRN 0 Posted June 1, 2011 I have had nose surgery; tubal, hysterectomy, 3 cyst removals and a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction - and I am still afraid to "go-under", even though I am a nurse and should know better!!! But even afraid, I cannot wait until I can get this done!! So a little crying is definately okay!! Good Luck!! Tara

Skyler 0 Posted June 2, 2011 Theresa I will for sure keep intouch and we can go through the days after together. I totally agree with the build up being the most nerve racking. I find that this week to be the worst as the date fastly approaches. Trying to fit in a few old favourite foods in before the big day that I know I will probably never eat again. But looking forward to a new way of living and all the good things to come. Talk with you soon Good luck
