2 (yes TWO) victories this week!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, this week I was walking down the hall and a paraprofessional I see rarely was coming towards me and she said, "Are you dieting again? You're looking great." (this is why no one suspects surgery, i have a history of 20 lb losses and diets, roflmao.) THENNN....just today my janitor said, in limited English, something to the effect of "you are pounds down, muy bonita!!". Fabulous man and he is probably 70 yrs old. I am banded since Nov.1 and only 16 lbs down. These are the things that keep me going. Sixteen lbs is not much, but it puts the sparkle back in my eyes, more pep in my step, and I guess has me taking extra care with my makeup and hair, I just FEEL better. It is so MUCH more than just the scale...

But the damn scale better start moving faster......I am feeling pretty cocky and just may replace the old thing.

16 lbs is great! I am banded 8= months and had a few slow months, I was keeping track of measurments, and the months I didn't loose, man did the inches come off, one month 3 lbs but 15 inches. that made up for no lbs. it also keeps my motivation going. 2 inches in 2 inches!! down 70 lbs and from 22 to now a tight 14 but it fits! for me the inches are better cause thats what I see in the mirror and the size I fit into.

People comments just make you walk taller and the self esteem I never had before is showing too. My dr says the sexuality is gleeming and my hubby must love it! hell, I had to look up sexuality, cause Ive never had it let alone, gleeming????

So congrats and keep going I got a great idea on this site, to list the NSV keep track of all the happy exciting changes your body and mind make, its great for those times when your feeling "not so successful" My last NSV I noticed in the bathroom, soory to mention, I no longer have to flush with my hand in a public restroom, I can lift my leg all the way to flush with my foot, and continue standing with ease! hey NSV are stange too!

Congratulations liana!! Those are great achievements :) You're right about the bounce it puts in your step .. helps to keep you motivated as well.

Preband, I'd run into people who would say, "wow you're looking great - lost weight?", when in fact, I'd gained, so I knew they were just being friendly lol and were probably talking about how big I'd gotten when I walked away. But now when people say it, I know they're being sincere and I can proudly say, "Yup, 90 pounds now" with a big ole grin on my face lol. Today I got told by a friend I hadn't seen since October, that I was "wasting away to nothing" .. a bit of an exaggeration on her part but made me feel good LOL.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
