When did you go back to the gym

Recommended Posts

I was banded 11 days ago. I feel good. Healing and recovering nicely. Back to work. I was wondering when most of you started going back to the gym. I would like to start going back this weekend but I heard to take 6 weeks off. I feel pretty good to do a light cardio work out and some weights. Any thoughts?

I was allowed to do cardio at 2 weeks and no weights until 6 weeks just to make sure everything was fully healed.

I waited three weeks, but I went out and walked (2.5 miles) everyday after day 7.

I had my surgery May 2nd and have been going to the gym for more than a week. I'm only allowed to do elliptical and treadmill. I won't be able to do strength training for another two weeks. :) If you feel good, start doing light cardio :D

My Doc let me go back after 1 week. Told me not to over do it with any weights. Said it was Ok to sit in the sauna and whirlpool also.

i am itching for June to get here so i can get moving. walking doesn't do a lot for me..i walk all the time anyway. i need the cardio and the weight. my scale hasn't moved since surgery day :P

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
