Hi,

I had my band on April 12th, and have had my first fill. As of my first post op visit (a week after surgery) I have lost a grand total of 8lbs. I know thats GREAT. But the thing is, since that visit, and starting solid foods, and even with the fill, that darn scale just hasnt budged. I am here to say, its totally my fault. I have no restriction, I can eat what I want, when I want, and I know that doesnt mean that I have to do that, but it just seems that I do. When I met with the nutritionist, she said the first few weeks of solid food were not about losing weight, but healing, and discovering how your band works. So thats what I did, and I think I did great. But when I went in for that first fill, and my surgeon saw that I hadnt lost weight, he flipped out on me, and asked me if I was even trying to lose weight, and if I wasnt going to try, why did I get the band in the first place? I felt like a kid being yelled at by a mean teacher. Now its 2 weeks later, and one week before I go back for another adjustment, and I still have yet to lose one single pound. Im miserable and scared of this guys judgement. Im a lover, not a fighter. Im also a conflict avoider, I like to make everyone happy. I want to tell him that if he would look at what these two weeks have been like for me, he would give me a break. My hubby re-deployed to Afghanistan. My oldest son is an emotional wreck, my 3 year old has spontaniously stopped sleeping through the night, and im exhausted, and we are in the process of moving out of our apartment, and im doing it alone. Im pooped! and Stressed! I know that these are all excuses, and I want to lose weight so badly, I just I just need some motivation from you guys to help keep me going.....this gets easier right?

HANG IN THERE!!! you are going to be just fine. brush off all of the negativity from the docotor (he was a bit harsh) and move forward. your stress may contribute to you lack of weight loss, so try to find a little peace to get you thru. the weight will come off, just be sure to stick to your regime..8lbs is progress so try not to be down about. it's 8lbs that you're not carrying anymore!!! :D

YOU are going through alot, however now is a time for change. My biggest way I can help myself with my food is journaling. I use an app on my phone cause its easy. Msybe try that to help you know what you are putting in your body. Also if the doc seez your doing what you need he might be more encouraging.

Also I think you should tell him all the stresses in your life and that your trying to find a balance.

Good luck and it will get easier. One step at a time.

Hang in there and when your hubby gets home you will be a new healthier, sexier you!!!

Absolutely hang in there! Don't give up! Your doctor did sound a bit harsh and not helpful. My questions is---is there a way you can hold yourself to the bariatric diet AND be kind to yourself? You're going through SO much--Good Lord. Be kind to yourself AND know that you'll be imperfect---but don't throw in the towel and eat regularly. You are a super strong woman to be able to handle all this----no doubt you can do it. Think of your husband's face when he gets home and sees his hot wife? ! :)

hugs,

BandedKitten

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP! You can do this!

Sorry to hear about all that you are dealing with right now, sounds tough. I know how it feels and I was told today from my dietician, to write down why I had this surgery, all of the things that I want to get out of it and look at it everyday. I was struggling too, I thought that was good advice from her. I plan to remind myself everyday of why I went through this surgery and what I want to get out of it everytime I think about eating something that is not healthy for me. Just like Stephy5 said, your hubby will come home to a healthier, sexier, thinner you! Keep your chin up! Things will get better! You can do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
