I am new to this support group and I want to get some info. on the surgery itself. I am scheduled for surgery on Tues. 1-24-06 and I am getting very excited but nervous. I am traveling over 1600 miles to have the surgery done. Luckily my sister-in-law will be traveling with me. My husband was planning on going but his father is not doing well and I think his place is here with the family. If anyone would like to share info. on the surgery and recovery please let me know.

Hi. I am new to this support group also. I had lap band surgery on Jan. 17th (today is the 20th). It wasn't bad at all. A little soreness after, but not a big deal. I feel very good now, and it has just been 4 days. I guess every one is different, I was very anxious, but I got through it will minimal discomfort and I am so excited to be starting this journey.

I am from Pekin, IL. and I will be going to Mexico to have my surgery done with Dr. Kuri. My insurance will not pay for it, so I will be floating the whole bill. Around here they say your BMI needs to be 40 or above and mine is only 36. My whole childhood I was heavy and when I started high school I lost all my weight and weighed around 115 to 125. My husband and I decided after being married for 6 years to have our 1st. and only child. The weight all came back plus some. My husband doesn't feel I need to do this, but I am doing it for myself. I want to have my life back. I have always been very outgoing, but in the last 5 years I sheltered myself from my family and my friends. I have never had surgery before or even been in a hospital only when I gave birth. I am not scared. I just like knowing what to except. I am one of those people that likes to be prepared for things.

Welcome to LBT!

The surgery day will probably go something like this... They'll have you change into a gown and some pressure stockings (to avoid clotting), then they'll put your iv in. You'll be wheeled into surgery if you're not already in the OR. The anethesiologist will tell you to count to 10 and the next thing you know you'll be in recovery! The actual surgery is pretty quick (about 45 minutes I think). Most people feel pretty good 4 to 7 days after surgery, but plan on taking it easy for 2 weeks just in case.

You're going to do great! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
