Cheated on Post diet- feeling guilty :0/

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks post op today and started on 2nd part of diet which consists of cream Soups, oatmeal , applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt etc- but I've been hungry all day and sick of soups- so I cheated and had a cup of dry Wheaties Cereal :0/ I chewed it thoroughly and it went down fine - tasted soo good too !! But now I feel guilty and scared that I might have a bad reaction or something - I feel fine but my doc specifically said only liquids first month ! Ughh - this is not easy by any means ... Sorry just needed to vent guys :0(

Liquids for a month... WOW thats ridiculous!! I had 2 weeks on liquid and by the time i was near the end... you DID NOT wanna mess with me. haha. It's ok if you cheat, as long as it's a good cheat. Wheaties, compared to french fries or pizza... not bad at all. You'll get the horrible quilty feeling, we all know that WAY too well! I'm 3 month post op and my thing I tell myself i CAN NOT have is starch/ carbs! French fries and fried chicken helped me get to the 300 lbs i was for sure!!! Don't let it get to you, just make sure you bounce back. I'm just now where I want to be, band wise. I'm finally feeling restriction and I physically can't eat a burger, even if I tried. Best of luck to you and remember, WE are all here for support my friend!

I don't think you did anything to your band or pouch. I was on liquids for only a week. Then one week of mushies, then regualr food. I had no problems. I would call your doc. and see if they are ok with you moving on to mushies at least. Hang in there, it does get better.

I too have been on liquids for four weeks and it is by far the hardest thing I have done ! I just started mushies yesterday and had a wonderful meal of low fat refried Beans and cheese, with salsa on the side. I am going to make some egg salad and mush it down real good.... be creative and smart about it and you will be fine..... Two weeks of mushies ahead of me and then finally back to real food.

Good luck !

I was only on all liquids for a week or so, and my doc said as long as I pureed foods or chewed them to mush, it would be ok.

I have had no problems. Just make healthy choices!

I had the same type of instructions. The 2nd part was so much easier than the 1st 2 weeks of Clear Liquids. Full liquids is so much easier. You can do it! Good luck. Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
