I have my band for a year now and have lost 110lbs. My last fill was about 2 months ago. Just recently I've noticed a change. I can't really eat a variety of things Soup, baked potato, rice cakes, popcorn, are about the only things that stay down. I knew going into this that I would have to stay away from certain foods but all meats alot of fruits and vegetables just don't stay down. And after I've eaten I feel the need to burp but nothing comes out. I just have this built up sensation in my throat. Haven't been able to get in to see the Dr. but I'm seriously frustrated. I feel like only surviving off these foods is not that healthy for me. I've told my Dr. that each time I've been filled the variety of foods in which I can eat lessens but the only thing he ever asks is if I can eat a half cup, and yes I can but only Soups and it isn't that comfortable. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Some people notice that after a few fills they start to need unfills because they are getting tighter. I don't know why it works that way but it can.

However have you done anything recently that could have caused your band to get tighter? Maybe it is just a little swollen and you need a small unfill. You want to make sure you can get in the right amount of nutritious foods to help you lose weight.

It sounds like you might need an unfill. If I was in your shoes I would def go for one. Next time your doc asks you if you can eat half a cup tell him no you cant eat half a cup but you can drink half a cup of things ie soups and that doesnt sound right to you.

I have all of a sudden gotten too tight a couple months after a fill. I would get a little taken out for sure. Are you doing protien shakes? I would do that until you can get in to see your doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
