How soon after a Tummy Tuck or body lift can you take a shower, I don't know how long I could go without a shower?

My surgeon did these stitches that were all internal - it was amazing. I was able to take a shower right away. However, take note that you will want to make sure that someone will be right there or that you have a shower chair because you may get weak when you try to take a shower. It's a big surgery that knocks you for a loop for a few days (especially with the pain meds). It's a pain in the neck managing the drains while showering.

Best wishes.

Sue

I had to wait until the drains were removed - 6 days before showering. I'd strongly suggest contacting the doc. I also took the advise of others on the board and purchased baby wipes, I used these after using the restroom to freshen up. This coupled with sponge baths helped - then on day 7, the day after the drains were removed I couldn't get in the shower fast enough.

I bathed instead of showered and did not get the incisions wet until the surface wound was healed. Or I took a shower quickly making sure the Water wasn't directed to my stomach.

This is pretty brutal surgery and you definitely won't be interested in standing in a shower while drains are hanging out of you anway!! But it will be SO WORTH IT!

Depending on how I was healing I would usually shower after a week. However I had a revision and my belly button wouldnt heal and it took nearly 3 weeks so it was sponge baths and wipe baths for me.

Im so glad my doctor didn't tell me I had to wait for my drains to be removed before I could shower because with my belly button problems I had my drains for 5 weeks. I'd go insane if I had to wait that long!

Honesly follow what your doctor recommends. Every case is different so the rules might change some.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
