Sometimes for lunch, I get a 6 inch subway sandwich (280 calories and 4g of fat). I typically finish the whole thing feeling guilt free being I am having meals ranging about 300 calories each. Can anyone tell me if this amount is too much food? I hope I am not stretching my pouch. Thanks.

As long as you are not eating to the point of being in pain, you shouldn't stretch your pouch. Take small bites and chew well and you should be fine.

Should be fine. Everyone is different they way they feel with the band, for me my hunger is controlled, and I'm full for hours, but I still eat a fairly large amount.. so I just chose foods that I can eat more of with less calories :). I can eat a 6 inch subway, I don't feel bad about it.

Just yea, if you can eat more, just make sure you watch your calories more carefully. Also remember. Subway only has 280 calories with NO mayo, mustard, cheese, ranch etc etc... all that stuff adds up.

I'm on day 10 post op and wonder how long it took before any of you could eat a 6 inch sub? a few months?

Thanks for the feedback - Yes, I make sure to take all of the toppings into consideration :)

@EBUSA - I am only a little over 3 months out of surgery...I am not sure exactly, but probably about a month and a half or so was when I first ate at subway. Fortunately, I am able to handle most foods, but I am finding after a few fills, that I need to remember to take my time when eating and chew well. Sometimes I forget, take a bite and dont chew it well and it gets stuck. When I first came out of surgery, I thought I would never have bread, Pasta, pizza, etc. again.....I was a nervous wreck...lol. But I realized that I really can enjoy lots of those things in moderation so long as I eat slow, chew well and dont overdo it. Good luck to you!

I would do anything to be able to eat a 6 inch subway sandwich, or bread of any sort...Lucky ducks...I try to eat toast or bread and Bam...stuck city....However The Dr. said that just because I cant eat it now, doesn't mean it wont change...I am figuring being out 1.5 years now...Its not going to change....Still hopefull...LOL.......

I might be able to bite it two or three times...tiny bites at like 3 or 4 in the afternoon. No subs here.....I get their Soups and sometimes if rarely, a wrap. Sandwiches are easily stuck and a waste for me. If I get a dollar McChicken at McDonald's, I can sometimes get the patty down..the bread gets thrown in the bag. And the chicken takes me a minute.

I havent tried to eat a subway sandwich since surgery...I don't have issues with bread but I don't think I could eat that much food...if you can do it without feeling overly full then I don't see a problem with it...

I don't think I will ever try to eat bread. I got stuck on some tuna and a second time on a peice of cantelope. No way I will try bread. I am just too scared! So far I am not missing bread. But steak...that is another story. I do miss steak, but not enough to eat it yet. I am just a scaredy cat!

I have good restriction, but I can still eat a six inch sub (at least with chicken salad, I think the turkey would probably be ok too).

Just last week on the 14th we took my nephews to a local baseball game and before hand we went to Subway. I was going to have a salad but I decided to try a 6 inch wrap. I took small bites and chewed and chewed before I swallowed and didn't have a bit of trouble. I was not able to eat the entire sandwich. This past Thursday I was doing clinical for school and they provided me with lunch.

As I picked up my dressed turkey burger and took a big bite out of it the duh light went on over my head. I had completely forgotten about my band until the food was in my mouth so I just chewed and chewed and chewed it to mush before trying to swallow and it went down without a problem. I was only able to eat a couple of bites of it though before I was stuffed.

I am 16 months out and STILL can't eat a Subway sandwich. My body doesn't do bread of any kind well. I could do the insides OK though.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
