lulu losingit 1 Posted May 21, 2011 I lost a lot in the first month and then stopped. I had my first fill and NOTHING. I could eat a horse if I wanted to. I am still restricting my calories and having lots of Protein. But nothing is happening. I called and scheduled a second fill this coming week (which will be 2 weeks after my first fill and exactly 2 months post-op) My doctor gives two free fills. Guess they're gone... Advice Needed 0 Posted May 21, 2011 I lost all of my weight in the first few weeks. The second month has been a killer for me. I work out and eat well but nothing is coming off. It is very frustrating. I have had one fill and can feel the restriction. I think I will be scheduling a second fill very soon. But if I eat any less I might be starving? thebug 0 Posted May 21, 2011 I'm in my third week of liquid diet (both pre- and post-op) and I have lost about 25 lb in these three weeks. I don't know what will happen for me down the line, but I have seen a lot of folks talking and agonizing about how their wt loss was so great in the first few weeks and then stalled completely for some time after. I wonder if this is the way it works: If you're dropping 10 lbs a week (as can happen on a severely calorie restricted diet) there is no WAY that can be all fat. Most of it is almost certainly Water. And water wt loss is NOT permanent wt loss; as soon as you start eating a reasonable, healthy amount of calories again the body replaces it's water stores. So my theory is that when it seems as if wt loss is stalling in the 2nd month or so post-op ( and post the initial severe, unhealthy-to-maintain-in-the-long-term calorie restriction) fat is still really coming off, but it doesn't show up on the scale because it is being replaced by water that your body lost initially, but that it really needs. Does that make sense? Yoo-hoo --- any medical or nutritional types out there who can comment on this? I lost all of my weight in the first few weeks. The second month has been a killer for me. Cocoabean 430 Posted May 21, 2011 My weight came off in fits and starts. I'd lose 2 lbs then be steady for a week or two then up 1 then down 3, then steady for a month, then drop 2, then up 2, then down 4, then steady for three weeks. But overall the trend was down. I averaged 3/4 lb per week. It was dreadfully frustrating, but after a couple of years I was 70 lbs down. Try not to let it get to you and look at the big picture. We don't have the malabsorption like bypass patients, so our losses take longer. Sometimes our bodies hang on to the weight even though we are doing everything right. Then it just lets go, all at once. Hang in there!
Phranp 46 Posted May 21, 2011 I have two words for you: BANDSTER HELL it's no fun, but pretty common here ... do a search on this forum (upper right hand corner) and you will find LOTS of info about those first few months and how, until you reach your sweet spot, you can (please note the word "can" as opposed to "will" ... this is because many [not necessarily me] here use other methods - i.e., consistent exercise, strict diet, etc. - in order to lose during this phase) have difficulty losing ... these posts will also tell you why. Very informative. Hang in there folks, barring complications, weight loss is in your future. All the best to you. ~Fran

reverie 49 Posted May 22, 2011 Measure yourself, maybe you're losing inches. Sadly weight-loss isn't always linear/constant. It's up and down all the time. Keep your head up! 1 LB_Annie reacted to this
