I am having a sleep test next week as well - i am under the impression from my surgeon that he will not cut on any patient that has NOT had a sleep test - even when there's really no indication of apnea. When later I questioned the barriatric office further about this (when they called to refer me for the sleep consultation) I was given an alternative explanation - that I needed to do it "in case" my insurance - which does not require a co-morbidity in order to cover the surgery since my BMI is so high - tries to deny me. My paperwork for approval is being sent to my insurance company tomorrow. I know they will approve me - but the approval will likely come after I have done my overnight test which I am dreading. I know for a fact I do not have apnea - my husband has raging bad apnea and I know what the symptoms are very well. Even the sleep doctor said he very much doubted I have it after my consultation with him last week. Oh, and my insurance company won't pay for the overnight test if I end up testing negative (the most counter-intuitive thing ever). Yet, because I have come this far, I will keep doing everything I'm told - jumping through every last hoop - to get to the end game - the surgery. The joke is - if I do have apnea - isn't the weight loss from the surgery supposed to cure it? I think it's a racket - again, though, I'll do anything and everything I'm told for that surgery.

I didn't; it depends on your insurance/doctor. Good luck!

My fiance and I both had to have these tests. Turns out he has "mild" sleep apnea (which to me sounds like being a little bit pregnant but whatever) and has to wear a CPAP for a while until he seems the pulmonologist again. I thought for certain I had it because I wake up a lot during the night and always feel tired during the day. You never know until you have the sleep study!

I have to have both these tests and more  I knew there was a lot involved but Jeez. I also need a chest x-ray and do a 6 minute walk. Thats only for the pulmonary doc. I also have to see a cardiologist and gastro. I was also told they need to do an upper endoscopy. I think this is all hoops to jump through hoping many people just give up---I AM NOT!!! I already have been cleared from psych, have weights documented for 2 yrs and a letter of support from my primary. Surgery can't happen fast enough

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
