When you have the surgery is your band filled that day or do they not fill it? I don't feel full like they say. I can keep eating like I did before. I ate bread and Pasta today and had to tell myself to not eat the whole plate.

It depends. Some people start off with a small amount in their band, some don't. I didn't have any fill when my band was placed...

It depends on your doctor... I didn't have any fill in mine, got filled today (5 weeks post-op). I think it's very, very common to feel no restriction in the period between surgery and your first "good" fill. Remember that you're in control of this!

When I went for my first fill she said I had a 10cc band. They had filled it 2.5 cc when I had the surgery and added another 2.5 m y first fill. I was banded the 10th of march so far I am down 30lbs. Go get my second fill next Wed.

Rachel412....... How many CC did you get for your first fill? Do you feel more restricted? Does your doctor advise a liquid diet again for a certain period of time. I have my first fill next week and just wondering. We are in the same area but I had my realize at Umass-Worc.. Thanks...

My doctor said that the bands come with a little bit in them, so unless your doc takes it out, everyone should have a tiny something in theirs

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
