Well I have not got a surgery date yet, but I am so satisfied with the thorough exam they are doing on me CEDAR SANAI has my approval. See I recently went to another facility in long beach CA, and they gave Me a surgery date within 2weeks , but they never did a good exam like Cedars. Cedars is just not going to put this foreign object in you for the hell off it... I have shop around and I finally have a sense of comfort all the way around. GO CEDARS!

It is interesting how people have such different experiences, even at the same facility. Cedars DOES have the reputation as being a world-class hospital. I was there twice last week, in fact. But...I would not have another procedure performed there. I have spent several weeks there as a patient, and I will tell you that what happened to me was quite dreadful. There is an amazing arrogance among the doctors and staff there when things go haywire. It's as if they think that because they are cedars that NOTHING bad could EVER happen. So, when it does, they work hard to sweep it under the rug.

Interesting.

S.

It's interesting how different people view all the exams and testing and such. In my case, I searched for a surgeon and hosp. that would have me jump through the least amount of hoops. I knew I did not need all that stuff and think most of it is just big $$$ makers.

I'd like to know how you made out. I'm a week out and my experience couldn't have been better. My doctor was Dr Burch with whom I had a great repore. The room

was like a large motel room with a couch, large table and four stuffed chairs. The view was of the LA skyline with the ocean in the background. DW spent the night

in a large cot they brought in. I had no pain except for a little site pain where my cuts were. I wasn't able to sleep so at two-thirty am I walked up and down the hall,

about a mile (did I mention this place is huge!), When we left, it was all hugs and kisses, I have never had this pleasant an experience in a hospital in my life.

For anyone contemplating WLS in the LA area, I can't recommend Cedars-Sinai ( a ACS Center of Excellence) highly enough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
