Jenn1214 120 Posted May 18, 2011 I had some routine bloodwork done recently and my doctor wants me to try and lower my cholesterol. My total is 191 which is within the normal range (and a hell of a lot better than 240!) but my triglycerides are borderline high. For anyone watching their cholesterol, how do you manage to get your Protein in without supplements? I've switched from two whole eggs in the morning for Breakfast to one whole egg and one egg white, and I only eat lowfat cheese. Any other suggestions? I also take Garlique everyday. honk 780 Posted May 19, 2011 I have genetically bad cholesterol. I never eat red meat, pork, whole eggs; and I exercise 7 days a week. Even after loosing over 100 pounds my cholesterol was still bad. I would recommend moving to egg whites/egg beaters all the Protein none of the fat or choles. I am now on a statin.
ElfiePoo 109 Posted May 24, 2011 Jenn, Pick up a copy of "The Great Cholesterol Con" by Dr. Malcolm Kendrick. There's another book out there with an almost identical title, but the one by Kendrick is the one with the science backing it up. It's a bit horrifying to discover how little 'science' backs up what they're teaching in the medical field about cholesterol...causes and what the numbers really mean. .
