I did! My surgeon always has people stay overnight, we do the barium swallow the next day. It was nice to get the pain pump and the nurses' help when I needed it.

I had to stay overnight. Surgeon suggested I stay overnight after my surgery run over 2h due to complications (old surgeries created a lot of internal scars and <spikes?>)

It was Ok - was checked out early morning. Got extra fluids via IV, good sleep in reclining bad, and lots of walking around and round and around the same floor was boring but needed :D

I have to stay overnight as well....my surgeon requires it on all band patients for 1-2 nights (typically just 1). He did "test" the waters on going home the same day, and that lasted less than a month. Not sure exactly why, but I do trust him so I'm not going to question it!

I just found out Friday that I am supposed to be inpatient but am calling the dr on Monday to find out why. I had been told out-patient and in my case the difference is $250 out of pocket.

I was outpatient or "23 hour observation". Had my procedure early in the morning & discharged the next afternoon. Although I knew I would not get much rest or sleep, I preferred to stay overnight incase of complications, wanted to be sure I had adequete pain control, & concerned about mobility - getting in/out of bed.

My surgeon requires all of his band patients to stay overnight. I had my procedure at 7:30 am and was discharged around 3:00pm the next day after having my barium swallow test. I wasn't in a lot of pain but for those who are in pain one of the benefits of staying overnight is that I had a morphine pump for pain control rather than just oral pain relievers.

I live alone and the lapband surgery was my first surgery. I am glad I stayed over night though my doctor has let people leave the same day.

When I tried to leave my doctor tried to get me to stay because I had so much gas in my lungs that he was afraid they would collapse. I had to leave however because I had to go back to work the next day.

I find staying over night ( I usually do after any surgery) is good in case something happens. A few times I had bleed out tons of fluids and needed drains to be put in after plastics etc. If I had gone home and that happened the 3 hour trip back to the doc would have been hell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
