npwilson 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Ok, so I was banded yesterday. I have been sleeping a lot, but every time I wake up I am getting the hiccups very badly (ouch!), and then throwing up. I have been taking the anti nausea medication.... does anyone have any other suggestions?? Also my back is KILLING me!! I think maybe it's where I have been sleeping so much, but I just don't know. I had the sharp pains in my shoulders this morning from the gas, but that is gone now. Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Rachel412 116 Posted May 17, 2011 The hiccups are from irritation to your diaphragm, and they should go away when the swelling goes down. I'd definitely call my surgeon and ask for a stronger anti-nausea med, you really need to give your stomach a chance to heal! I'd lay on a heating pad for your back, or try sleeping in a recliner or on a lot of pillows so you're upright. And just a tip... my surgeon told me that patients who sleep a lot after surgery often become dehydrated because you're not awake to drink as much, so MAKE SURE you're getting all of your liquids in. I hope you feel better soon!

Awww, thank you! I haven't told most people IRL about my band (just my immediate family and one friend) so I like hanging out here- I get to talk about the band and learn, learn, learn.
