You're losing inches therefore nothing is wrong. When you stop losing inches AND the scale stops moving, consider yourself at a stall. Believe it or not, losing inches is the better way to measure your weight loss as it proves wholeheartedly that you're losing FAT. The scale can be down 2lbs, but who is to say how much of it was fat and how much of it was Water weight, muscle, or just a daily fluctuation? Embrace your inches lost, truly.

I totally agree- the idea is to get smaller right? You are shrinking and that is the goal. You are doing just fine. Try not to get on the scale everyday, the daily flucuations will drive you crazy. When I was loosing I weighed in once a week and recorded it. Well, I did "cheat" a few times, but not very often. Congrats on your surgery!

Im having the same problem. My clothes are fitting differently (in a good way), my friends and co workers say I look thinner, but the scale doesnt budge! Im just going to go with the idea that Im losing fat, but gaining muscle, so I look better, but weigh the same. It's very frustrating, but the more frustrated and stressed I get about it the worse it is, so Im trying to stay positive.

You've only been banded three weeks. The first SIX weeks post-op are supposed to be just for healing up, and getting ready for the next phase, which is the beginning of weight loss. You are getting waaaay ahead of yourself. Step back, take a breath, and relax. Developing patience is a very critical part of successfully having the band.

Do not be discouraged by a lack of weight loss right now. You gained it over a long period of time. It will also take time to lose it. Keep working your plan, and stick with it. When your body has recovered from surgery, and you're back on solid food, your metabolism will adjust, and the scale will start to move. After a few fills, and once you figure out how your body relates to the band, you'll start losing. It may be just a pound or two at a time, but if you keep going, the pounds lost will add up, and you WILL be successful.

Hang in there, and enjoy the ride. Being banded is a life-changing event.

Dave

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
