Robert L. 0 Posted May 16, 2011 I did extensive research about lapband 3 or 4 years ago and I was about 100#s lighter. The biggest drawback at that point was the required visits to a psychologist 5 that was not covered by insurance. Does that roadblock remain. I watched the procedure on the internet several times and my wife and I went to a seminar on the East coast of Florida where the psychologist problem was mentioned. Psychology was my college minor while premed was my major. I still consider it useless in this matter. Will I need to attend another seminar and/or suffer the psychology expense to qualify at his point. I think that there is a local surgeon performing that procedure currently; please supply his name, address, phone. I am 64 years old and unfortunately I weigh 320 pounds. mandy J. 1 Posted May 16, 2011 It depends on your insurance. Some companies do, and some do not require it. I don't think any physicians require psycology sessions. I think it is just an insurance thing.
