new here: advice/thoughts needed

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Iam new here. I was banded on May 9th, so I will be one week out tomorrow.

I had a lot of gas pain and still feel a lot of bloating in my belly. Not feeling any more pain, just an umcomfortable feeling from what is probably still some gas in my belly.

I can walk fine, but struggle after climbing stairs. No issues actually climbing a flight of stairs, but I just climbed two flights and needed to rest to catch my breath.

I recover quickly, and my heart rate settles down quickly as well, but just wondering if this is something others of you have experienced in the first week.

Thank you for any advice/thoughts you can give me on this.

I was banded on may 10 th and am experiencing a lot of the same things.... Everyone says it is normal. Lots of gas and bloating. I have found out that taking a long but SLOW walk without inclines really helps with the gas/bloating. When it gets bad at night I get up and walk the hallway a couple of times at home before lying

back down.

Hope this helps and congrats

Ben

I was weak and slow and tired for the first two weeks following surgery. I'd say around days 10 and 11 were my worst- I just felt like crap, even though my pain was much better. I definitely took a turn for the better at 2 weeks and it's been all uphill from there :)

..............same here. When I started out after surgery, I was just walking back and forth in my garage with my jammies on and when I moved outside and on my treadmill, I was just walking a mile an hour. I had my surgery on Feb 23 and now I get up and go jogging every day. I am sure I looked like a snail when I first started walking but every day I get stronger and faster. I have also noticed that my neighbors are waving more as they get used to seeing me out there and I have even noticed that some of my older neighbors have started walking too. You never know who you inspire. I am down 39 pounds and that is not near as impressive to me as the fact that I am actually out jogging and liking it. My heart rate can stand the faster speed now and it feels wonderful. My secret goal now is to be able to have more stamina and to jog faster than my skinny butt husband. He is so awesome to let me be competitive with him in order to reach my goals.:P

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
