Cost of Lap Band out of pocket

Recommended Posts

My insurance will not pay for the surgery, so I will be paying out of pocket. I'm in Chattanooga Tennessee and the best price I have found is $10,000 from the Lap Band Institute. And this includes everything concerning the surgery but does not include fills (which are $125 each). Is this a good price?

Hi yeah that sounds like a great price I live in Tampa,Florida and got a special Price for $10000 I only had to put $5000 down and pay the rest in 2 years at $208 per month 0 interest but my fill cost $50 dollars each time. That price included a hospital stay and anestesologist etc.....So I think It is a great deal some places charge $20000 :D

I paid $13,900 here in California. I feel that the skill of the surgeon makes a lot of difference is recovery time and band success when it comes to placement and fills. Do your research on the surgeon and talk to other patients, if possible, to see what their experiences were with the surgeon.

I am getting banded in Chicago and am self pay with a price tag of $12,500. Mine is outpatient, so no over night stay. This included all my pre-op testing, surgery and one year of fills. So it sounds good to me. Wanna switch prices! LOL!

Yes that is a good price! I'm paying almost 10,000 for mine in Dallas, TX. There are a lot of doctors in Dallas that do lapbands for 8,500 to 10,000. But I don't hear those low prices very often!

I thought it seemed pretty good. But this morning I just found out that if I pay with a credit card then it will cost me $11,500! And if I finance it through them, it will be 13.99% interest! Urrrg!! So either way, it will be more than $10,000 which is so discouraging!! If it seems too good to be true...it probably is!!

Mine was $13,000, so I think that is a good price! I wish I could have gotten it for $10,000.

That is what I paid for my lapband. My fills and doctor visits were free for the first 90 days and then my fills are $50.00

Just wondering if they are making you pay the 12,500 up front or if they offer payment options, also what hospital and Dr are you going through? I am doing the information seminar this wednesday at silver cross. Didnt know where else to go and was referred there.

Even with insurance I will pay $3000 to my surgeon and $3000 to the surgical center. Fills will cost $40 each so I would say $10,000 is a good deal. As long as the doctor is legit and has a good reputation, I would do it!

$11,500 is how much mine cost. $3,000 to the doctor, $8,500 to the hospital. Birmingham, Ala.

If you're in Youngstown, OH...it's 27,000 dollars, doesn't include a hospital stay...most hospitals in NE Ohio are about the same

I just had my surgery this morning at UPMC in Greenville, PA...16,500 with a nights stay and a year worth of fills (paid 2 weeks before the surgery)...staff here is amazing and very caring...never had a 10,000 price option around here but still don't regret it

$15,800 is my number... surgery date 6/1/11. This includes pre-op Protein diet, surgeon, psych consult, up to 3 nights stay at the hospital and 1 years of fills. I am happy with this because I love the surgeon. I live in the Tampa - S. Pete area (FL).

Dr. Scott Stowers and Dr. Dirk Rodriguez are currently offering Lap-Band surgery for $8,500. Here is a link to a page with more details about the summer special. http://www.mybariatricsolutions.com/dallas-lap-band-surgery-specials

Hope that helps! Best of luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
