Experience with band slippage??

Recommended Posts

I went to the doctor yesterday for a fill. I am about 15 months post-op. I have lost 80 pounds. I always get a fill under fluoroscopy because I am super sensitive and can get too tight quickly. Well, it was obvious from the test that something was wrong. Nurse stated that my band had slipped and she removed the 5cc I had in my 10cc band. Redid the fluouroscopy after the un-fill but there was no change.

Doctor is suppose to call me on Tuesday. Anyone out there have a similar experience. What was your outcome? Would love to hear from others.

Thanks!

Wow, you are in a tough place....sometimes slips will resolve after several weeks but many times more surgery has to happen to reposition the band and re stitch it down. Ppl here have posted about both outcomes. Use the search feature for this subject posts.

Good luck.

I had a slip a little over 3 years from my surgery. I had to have my band replaced. I was very successful with the first band, but have gained 20 pounds back since having the band replaced. My second band was placed August of 2010 and I am at 11 cc in a 14 cc band. This past week is the first time since the surgery I have felt any restriction at all and it is not a great lot. My Doctor said he had never had to place that much Fluid in one. I don't know what the difference is, but it certainly doesn't feel like the first time. I was only about 10 pounds from my goal weight when I had the second surgery, but I am now 30 lbs. I know every situation is different and I hope you have success. I would just encourage you to ask lots of questions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
