Problems with fill

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I got my lapband in Oct 24th 2011, I have had three fills the last one on the 11th of May. I have been filling really full, and with the hiccups. Is this normal, last night I just continued burping with some fluids also having a hard time with Water. I only got 1cc fill I have lost 35 pounds, but due to a knee replacement have not been able to really work out. knee is much better now so I have started to work out on treadmill water and weights. Could someone please answer this for me, I will call my doctor did't want to be a pain. thanks.....

I am 10 months out. I just had a fill 2 weeks ago (4th fill) It was completely different from the first three. I get full very quickly. Since the day of my surgery, the hiccups for me have been a sign that I'm full and should quit eating. I almost always get the hiccups everytime I eat. I have noticed if I keep eating after I get the hiccups, I usually over eat and get sick.

I think it is normal.

I'm just getting around to looking at this....did you call your doctor? I see this is from May, but have you been able to avoid hiccups yet? I can't see where exercise would have any effect on a fill...I would say you should have called the doctor as perhaps they could be able to remove a small portion of your fill to alleviate the side effects. I had received an overfill to the point that I was vomiting nearly every meal....but that has been fixed now. Hope all is well.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
