When is the band "full"?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find a new fill doctor. My surgeon wants $150 and will only do .5cc at a time regardless of how restricted you are. I called around and told another doc that I think I have around 3 cc in my band, she said that a lot of times that is it, that that is a full band even though it holds 9.75 ccs.... what? That just doesn't make sense to me. I live in Houston, one of the biggest cities in the country and I can't find a darn doctor to do my fills!!

Scratch that, found an old post I have 6 ccs - is that horrible? Because I can eat whatever I want - now I'm worried that I've totally messed this up...

Well... to my knowledge if you have a 10cc band it will hold 10cc's.

From what I've seen on here, lots of people have 6 or more cc's.

.5 cc no matter what seems strange.

Think he just wants to make more money, altho, .5cc could be all you need.

Why would that be horrible? Lots of people end up with more than that in order to get good restriction. Don't freak yourself out! .5 fills only is ridiculous, especially if you're paying per fill.

I would try going to a True Results aftercare center. I don't know if you prefer an actual doctor doing your fills, but they have PAs doing the fills. Also, I'm not sure if they only accept their surgeon's patients, but it won't hurt to try. I know they have a location in Houston. This link will take you to their info page.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
