  1. 1. How Much Food Do You Consume At One Meal?

Recommended Posts

I am slightly confused about what the normal intake at one sitting should be.

I see many people post pictures of what they eat and it looks like alot of food.< /p>

My doctor told me a 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup per meal.

I would say I average a cup of food per meal. Well, maybe not Breakfast (I have a Protein bar) but definitely lunch and usually dinner.

I can't stand this 1/2 cup and no snacking nonsense from docs. It's no wonder so many people over-fill to the point of constant PB'ing and reflux when they're trying to stay satisfied for 4-5 hours on a 1/2 cup of food.< /p>

I'm not knocking what works for other people, but I tell you what, I have lost over 100 lbs in 8 months eating well over 1/2 cup of food, with no real exercise. I've also never vomited, PB'ed or slimed.

It has taken me awhile to get used to the thought of even just eating 1 cup of food. I can eat just 3/4 cup if it's something like cottage cheese or the pinto Beans I like to make. Also, one of my favorite things to eat that really fills me up, is a tostada with about 1/4 cup of the pinto Beans w/a scrambled egg, a tidbit of cheese and a bit of salsa if I have it. It is sooo yummy.

I get freaked out sometimes, thinking that I've over eaten, when it's only 1 cup and I admit, sometimes a little more. But, I don't do that all the time. I think it's hard for me to judge how much I've eaten when I'm out at a restaurant too, so I worry about that.

P.S. I forgot to say that I normally eat just 1 cup or measure by weight. When I measure by weight, I try to stay at about 8oz or so.

Im going to have to learn about some of what you mentioned (pbing and slimed) either way that doesnt sound good. Thanks for answering. It just doesnt seem easy to attain to 1/2 c food even with the band. Im not hungry yet but they say its coming. Your losses speak for themselves :)

Sorry-- PB'ing means "productive burping", a process many people go through when they get food stuck. It isn't full-on vomiting, but more like burping up the stuck food without any bile. Sliming is what happens when saliva and digestive juices collect on top of stuck food and backs up into your mouth (I think-- that's what I've gathered from others). Both of these are associated with getting food stuck.

Wow! That sounds like fun! :0/

Trust me, after the first time it happens to you, you'll want to learn how to avoid it happening again. Not a fun experience. The positive thing is that once the food has moved through the band, or has been PB'd back up, the symptoms disappear, and you move on with your day. Rarely will you have side effects. It's just a freaky situation, and not one you'll want to go through.
