Stupid chocolate cravings!

Recommended Posts

This will be my second TOM after surgery. I have been fine with sweets up until this point but for some reason I have been craving chocolate for the past few days. I have a piece or two to relieve it and it's fine, but I can't keep doing this. How do you ladies deal with the cravings and other PMS symptoms?

I eat 100 calorie dark chocolate bar from Trader Joe's (but just one!). The way I see it, this has to be a sustainable lifestyle that I can live with for the rest of my life. I'm not willing to never eat chocolate again. I want slow, steady weight loss and a healthy life. So far, so good.

that is awesome. I have been dealing with chocolate cravings this week too..it's my tom. I have been eating very little but your point is so well taken. I would rather lose slowly and be healthy than do it all at once.

Um yeah, I eat chocolate almost every day :) :) :)

Usually it is around 100 calories or less.

I read this thing once that Gillian Michaels eats Peanut Butter cups every day...if she can do it, so can I!

Realistically, how miserable would your life be if you could never again have a piece of birthday cake, a cookie at the office, a piece of chocolate...The band usually won't let me go overboard on sweet stuff anyways since most bad stuff tends to be sticky (except ice cream - but even then, too much volume is bad). Le sigh, lettuce goes down juuusssst fine though!!! :)

Fudgesicles are great, they satisfy the choco craving in less than 100 calories sugar free. And I do eat chocolate from time-to-time. I go for the low sugar dark kind it is a healthier choice. I allow myself most foods in moderation choosing the healthiest version.

I am only 2 weeks post op, but in general, See's candies Lollypops in chocolate work wonders. I think they are around 80 calories with about 2-3 grams of fat. They take a LONG time to finish and they are WONDERFUL.

I can so relate! I was banded in april if last year down almost 70 pounds yay and I bought easter candy this year the day after!! Ugh was I ever torqued off when I saw plus three at the dr.'s office this morning! Totally my fault and totally the reason why i got banded... I'm trying to look at this as at least it's only three pounds this year..... in the past it's been much more!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
