5 weeks out and starting to see results!

Recommended Posts

So as of yest I am five weeks out and down 24 pounds!!!! Yippie :) I haven't gotten back in the gym yet (I am walking to work though)... but I am diligently counting my calories and recently bought a body bugg to help me get a better idea of my daily burn. I was feeling very frustrated my first few weeks because I wasn't losing but around week 4 the weight just started falling off! I work so hard to watch what I eat, if I would have done this before maybe I wouldn't have needed the surgery! lol But the band helps me feel full on less so I am thankful. My first fill is next week :)

You are doing great! You have lost just about 5 pounds a week! That is awsome. I highly reccomend excersise. That's great your walking to work. It took me 3-4 months after surgery to get to the gym. It really does help with weight loss and so many other benefits. Keep up the good work!

Tomorrow ill be 5 weeks out from surgery and I have not lose anything for the last 3 weeks. I lost 16 lbs in the first 2 weeks and since then NOTHING! I would like to know what your eating within a day and how many calories your consuming?

Im getting very frustrated because im eating right (1100-1300 calories per day), exercising (at least an hour 6 days a week) and tracking all my calories and daily intake and still nothing. Then everyone tells me to hang in there, i'm trying but I feel like I felt before surgery that no matter what diet i was on i eventually failed and gave up because i wasnt seeing results. I know everyone says that you have to work with your band, but I am and nothing is happening.

Wow congratulations! I was wondering if you've had your 1st fill yet?

No, my first fill is scheduled for May 21st. But i've been told that it wont really help much. I guess I'm just scared now because I think ahead and dont see how having restriction will help much if im really trying to stay between the 1100-1300 calories.

Great job - keep up the good work! The band works!

I didn't notice any difference until my 3rd fill so don't get discouraged.

I just past 4 weeks and will be 5 weeks on Thursday. I am hoping that I will start back up with the losing. I know what everyone says that you wont start losing again until maybe after the 6 weeks or after your first (or 5th) fill. But it is kinda frustrating getting thru those weeks of nothing.

I am keeping my calorie intake at 1200 or so (went to 1400 today though). There are certain days that I am not hungery at all and there are days (like today) that I feel like I need a little more or want a little more. I am still working on the head thing and not to try to eat when I dont think I need it.

Congrats on your loss. Keep up the good work. :D

Thanks everyone! I feel great! Got my first fill a couple of days ago and I need to learn to slow down my eating again! lol I didn't realize how loose my band was until I saw that barium flying thru... a little 3 cc's in and I'm nice and snug :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
