2 yrs post op and wanting to get back on track

Recommended Posts

Hi.....I had my surgery 2 years ago...I was 247 at the time and am 164 now.....I have totally gone back to my old ways....although I hadn't been gaining (although I think I'm starting to) I just can't seem to wrap my head around what to do to get back to that way of thinking. I miss how obsessed I was with i before....I'm no longer accountable to anyone it feels...I still get stuck from time to time so I know I dont need a fill....I don't know just wondering if anyone had any advise...I would like to at least meet my goal which was 150....uuugghh...feel blah :(

You're only 14 lbs. away from your goal weight if I did the math correctly. You should probably get a fill if you havent had one in a while. Good luck youre doing great!

Sorry you are having such a rough time. Wanting to get back on track is the first step. I am wondering if you do need a fill. Getting stuck every once in a while doesn't mean you don't need to be a little tighter. You may be eating too fast, not chewing enough et... It might just be the food as well, bread and Pasta can be very difficult. If you are having a lot of hunger I would go in and talk with your surgeon.

Too get back on track you might want to do a liquid diet of low carb Protein Shakes for 2-3 days. I would then eat a low carb, high protien, low fat diet. Lots of lean meat and veggies. Berries for fruit are relatively low in carbs. If you need a fill, you can worry about portions once you have better restriction.

Excersise is a key factor. It works wonders for weight loss. If you are not already doing it I highly reccomend you start. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration. If you can afford a personal trainer I highly reccomend it. I meet with a trainer 3 days a week for weights. It really helps hold me accountable. I was lucky to find someone I just love. The half hour goes by pretty fast.

Well that's my advice, remember loosing weight comes down to calories in and calories out. That being said, I also believe a low carb diet helps as well. Keeps your blood sugar from spiking. Hope all this helps and best wishes!

Thank you so much for the advise. You know sometimes just hearing it from someone else helps reap my head around it again :) It's all the things I know but just need to be reminded :)

THank you

I know right? You would think I would just do it already, I have been at this weight for over a year. I lost a lot right at the begining because I was so dedicated and at some point got comfortable with how I look. Now I want to get down some more. :)

I'm right there with ya on this. It has been a year and 4 months for me and I started at 248 and am now 162, my goal weight was also 150. Like you I have gotted comfortable where I am now, I started going shopping more and hanging out with my friends more and kinda been slacking on the exercise. I still journal everything I eat but exercise is the key. I can't seem to get motivated enough to start exercising again but I'm trying. This site is the only support I get so it is so good to talk to people going through the same thing. Good luck with starting again, we can do this!!!!!

I'm a year post op. finally got serious about losing the rest of my weight - what I am so happy about is that my expensive but faithful friend is there to support me - the lap band.

get a bikini and hang it on your closet - i'm using any trick possible to help me get to to my goal weight now after being lazy for approx 7 months out of the past year.

Hi, I am in about the same place. It was two years for me on April 16!

I think about 9 months ago, I got to where I really liked the way I felt and was. Then Christmas came along, and I begin to bake and eat sweet goodies, and I think that started my issues. I gained back 10 pounds, and just cannot get myself in the right frame of mind. I cannot get myself back into the place I was before. I do not need a fill, I need mind motivation. Was thinking about asking for an appepite suppressant, wasn't sure if they would give me anything. Just something to jump start myself.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
