I was banded March 5, 2010 and have had tremendous success (-90 lbs)... around December when my bad was at approximately 3.8cc I experienced pain like never before a week after a fill, I suffered through it, convinced it wasn't because I was too tight (the pain was in my stomach not chest discomfort like I normally had experienced when "stuck") and eventually had some taken out at the end of the month, I waited another 5 weeks and had .3cc put in, everything was good to go for another 5 weeks. In March I had a .3cc fill and for 4 weeks all was well, I could tell I didn't need a fill at my next appt so I canceled it - 2 days later I was in pain, stuck on chicken, Water wouldn't go down and had .2cc taken out.

For the past several weeks I've been hating life, I was tight and having some reflux (maybe?) issues, heart burn more or less and I've never had that - then the last 2 weeks I could eat ANYTHING, I don't eat bread but I could have I'm sure - all of a sudden on Monday I noticed I was having a lot of restriction, same thing yesterday, I could feel everything going thru, with minimal pain but it wasn't fun. I woke up with a mouthful of acid in the middle of the night and this morning I can drink liquids but again I feel it going all the way down.

I didn't eat anything differently or do anything abnormal - anyone else ever experience this crazy swing from seemingly wide open to crazy tight?

It can be related to a lot of things. For women, monthly cycles (even if you don't have a period) will still contribute, most women experience a week or more when they are tighter than other times. It could be from allergies, a slight inflammation reaction. Could be swelling from acid reflux (take something like Prilosec OTC for 1-6 months to retrain your stomach to produce less acid).

Monitor what you're eating, your weight, and how you feel each day for three months and you'll see a pattern.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
