Mine is on my left side about two or three inches under my rib cage. When I lay down though it sort of goes to the side and I can't have fills laying down. Mine actually has dropped since surgery and my surgeon said not to worry that sometimes they do. As we lose weight the skin weight from the tummy will pull down on our muscle is how I understood it. I'm ok with where it is but sometimes when laying on my stomach it's annoying. It's all part of the deal.

I just had surgery on May 6th and mine was placed just under my left breast along the bra line. I have been wearing sports bras since the surgery. I tried wearing an under wire bra yesterday and it was rubbing on the big incision (where he put the port)....soooo I'm back to sport bras until the incision completely heals.

I guess I am unusual. My port is to the left and about 4 inches above my belly button. It is well below the bra line, too. I can wear an underwire without problem. I am 18 months out, but even 1 month out I had no trouble. Karen

YES IT MOVED CAUSE ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE HAVING MISSIONARY SEX IT IT TORE THE STITCHES THAT HELD IT. HE HASN'T FIXED IT I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH IT MOVED HE JUST TOLD ME THAT SOME OF THE STITCHES HAVE BROKEN LOOSE AND HE FOUND IT WITH THE FLORSCOPY I JUST HATE HAVING TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL EVERYTIME I WANT A FILL

How soon after surgery did you have sex and caused this? Also how did your doc know that the port had moved? I ask this because am 3 weeks post op and after week 2 my boyfriend and I had sex. I didn't have any pain by my incisions or anywhere so I figured it was ok as long as we were careful. when I went to my post op appointment the dr said my incisions healed well. No cause for concern right?

Mine is on my right side about 2 fingers under my rib cage but it's pretty deep. Ask your surgeon and they'll let you know where they're going to put it.

Mine was right above my belly button, and was the source of my problems. I had a single incision through the belly button, and the incision never closed. The surgeon said it was because of port placement- every time I bent over, it put pressure on some gland or something and caused more fluids to ooze out of the incision, thus never allowing it to heal. I ended up with a port infection because of this, and had to have two revisional surgeries. My new portis about 3" above and 3" to the left of my belly button.

My port is in my upper left side of my chest and my incision is just under the edge of my armpit. That is where my Dr. puts all of his and they are easily accessed for fills and don't have to worry about bumping into something with your stomach and hitting it. ohmy.gif

Myport is about 2 inches above and to the right of my belly button. My surgeon made a vertical incision that started in my belly button and is a little more than an inch long. This is where she inserted the port. I have 4 other incisions that are not quit 1/2 inch long. They were glued and my scars are very minimal. I am only 4 weeks out and they are not really noticable.

Mine is a couple inches below my bra line, right in the middle.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
