Week post op here, feeling good. Belly incisions are not bad at all and can sleep on my side, yippee.

I am been sticking to Jello and liquids have this pain coming up and in my chest...man is that uncomfortable.

I had the gas x strips, they didn't seem to do much but make my breath smell minty :rolleyes:I have read on here that alot of you have that and in 2 weeks it should go away. I have been keeping active and I believe it to be gas as sometimes I'll burp and man what a celebration that is when i can do that.

Well, just wanted to come on to see if anyone had any thing that they found worked alot as I would love to just get my Water down (the amout that i am suppose to have). Yesterday I did the most which was about 50 oz took me all day. Had the pain right along too sooo...

Looking forward to moving along with spring here summer approaching, can't wait til I dont have to worry about looking like a lard in cooler clothes.

Praise God!

Don't worry too much if you aren't getting all your Water in. While it is important, don't force yourself if it causes you discomfort. Remember to take small sips. If you're drinking ice cold Water, try drinking something warm like tea. It helps. A heating pad may also help with the gas pains as does walking around every so often.

Happy healing!

Hey! Gas gas gas, how horrible;). One thing i read here at some

Point and did help was to sit down, and lower my head to my knees. I would do that a couple times and it would help me sooooo much. It would allow me to burp a lot after. So seems silly, but do it, lower your head to your knees and stay there for a couple of minutes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
